The Skincare Routine For Oily & Acne Prone Skin by Platinum Deluxe

The skincare routine for oily or combination skin types by Platinum Deluxe is a guide to help you choose the best products for your skin. The problem with these skin types is that they are genetically predisposed to produce excess sebum which can lead to an oily, greasy and shiny appearance. It's not a condition you can cure and treat, but there are plenty of things you can do to reduce the effects of acne on your skin, and moisturising is always a good place to start.

If you have oily skin and are prone to acne, then the best thing to do is keep the face clean and free of dirt, grime and grease. Wash your face with a gentle soap or gel cleanser twice a day (morning and night) to remove excess dirt, dead cells and oil from the skin. Try to avoid scrubs or anything that will irritate the skin because this may cause further damage.

Platinum Deluxe fine skincare is best for oily and acne prone skin because it contains:

STEP 1 CLEANSER

A cleanser without any strong detergents that can aggravate the skin and cause breakouts, but has a low pH that strengthens the skin’s natural protective acid mantle

Cleanse your face twice a day-once in the morning and once at night. In the morning, you'll need to take off any makeup that you may have worn to bed the night before. At night, make sure to cleanse your skin before retiring because oftentimes those harsh ingredients can build up overnight when you're not cleansing your skin properly.

Step one: Use a warm washcloth or hot shower to open your pores and wet your face. The warm water will help soften your skin, making it easier for you to wash away dirt and oil.

Step two: Apply some of the facial cleanser with warm hands or with a cotton ball or pad.

STEP 2 EXFOLIATING TONER

A toner is a beauty product that is used to remove dead cells and renew the skin. They work by physically removing dirt, surface oil, sebum, and other pollutants that can damage the skin. In addition to this they also contain skin soothing ingredients such as antioxidants which help the skin fight oxidative damage caused by pollution and UV radiation. Their primary function then is to hydrate the face/skin with water or a hydrating formula but they also serve another purpose in helping exfoliate dead cells away from your face so they don’t clog your pores or act as fuel for acne causing bacteria.

exfoliating toner to help reduce oil production which can lead to more acne breakouts- moisturiser with cyclic acid for deep cleansing properties to reduce bacteria in pores. "

STEP 3 SPF

This is so important even if you are just going out for under an hour in daylight! Too much sun exposure will accelerate ageing and will increase your risk of skin cancer.

SPF is a must

It is important to use sunscreen every single day, even on a cloudy day. If you use sun protection for your skin for 15 years, you can slow down ageing by around 25%. So this is a small sacrifice to make for such a big reward.

Don't forget that SPF only protects against UVB rays. Those are responsible for sunburns and skin damage. If you want optimal protection from UVA rays, look for a product that offers physical protection; zinc oxide or titanium dioxide are the most common agents. They work by scattering and reflecting UVA rays.
