Skincare Routine For Different Seasons
Skincare Routine For Different Seasons (Summer, Winter, etc)
How do you take care of your skin in different seasons?
As the seasons change, so do our skincare needs. In the winter, for instance, we might need a heavier moisturizer than in the summer. Skincare products that work well with your skin can help protect against environmental stressors like UV rays and pollution. Here's a quick guide to help you choose products that will keep your skin healthy and glowing all year long:
Winter
Winter is the season of dry skin, and if you want to keep your complexion looking its best, you'll need to use a moisturizer with SPF. "You should always be using a daily SPF product during winter months because they tend to be more humid than other seasons," says Dr. David Bank, MD at Schweiger Dermatology Group in New York City. "This can lead more easily to sun damage."
Another key ingredient for winter is hyaluronic acid--the naturally occurring substance found in our bodies that keeps our joints lubricated and plump. Hyaluronic acid also has moisture-retaining properties that make it perfect for keeping skin hydrated throughout those cold months when there's less humidity in the air (which makes us lose more water through evaporation). Look for products with ingredients like sodium hyaluronate or hyaluronan on their labels; these are derivatives of hyaluronic acid that penetrate deeper into skin than regular HA does on its own so they provide additional hydration benefits without feeling greasy or heavy like some other types of moisturizers do when applied over makeup during colder months (and even if you don't wear makeup every day).
Another thing worth mentioning here: Retinol works great under makeup too! In fact we love mixing it into our foundation before applying it--it helps smooth out fine lines while providing extra protection against UV rays which means fewer wrinkles later down the line!
Spring
Spring is the season of fresh blooms, sunny skies and all things green. It's also when your skin begins to show signs of seasonal sensitivity.
As you begin to emerge from winter hibernation, your skin becomes more prone to breakouts as it adjusts to the increase in temperature and humidity levels. To combat these issues:
-
Use a gentle cleanser instead of harsh soaps or exfoliators that can irritate sensitive skin.
-
Use toner after cleansing to remove excess oil and dirt without stripping away moisture from your complexion (this will help prevent blackheads).
-
Moisturize regularly with SPF-infused products like moisturizers or sunscreens--you'll want protection against UV rays while enjoying springtime activities outdoors!
Summer
Summer is the time to be extra-careful with your skin. It's hot and humid, which means you'll be sweating more than usual--and that's not good for your face!
If at all possible, stay inside during the day (or at least keep cool) and don't go outside without SPF on. Moisturize often with a moisturizer that has an SPF in it (like Neutrogena Face Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum). If you need another layer of protection from UV rays, try wearing a hat or carrying an umbrella when going out in public.
In addition to sunscreen application, use facial masks regularly during summer months; they'll help hydrate dry skin while also preventing breakouts caused by excess oil production due to heat and humidity
Fall
-
Use a moisturizer with an SPF of at least 15.
-
Use a gentle cleanser that won't strip your skin of moisture.
-
Once a week, use a hydrating mask to help keep skin hydrated and plump during the colder months.
-
Try using a serum that contains hyaluronic acid (HA) to keep your skin feeling bouncy throughout fall and winter!
