Dark Spots Heat Spots on Skin : Heat Makes Them Worse

Dark Spots/ Heat Spots on Skin : Heat Makes Them Worse

The sun is not the only cause of spots on the skin; high temperatures are too. Have you ever wondered why your stain remains the same even if you use sunscreen and take care of the sun?

One reason may be the high temperature of the environment; this causes the stains to be more noticeable. In this article, we will explain how heat influences the appearance of skin spots and some recommendations to avoid it.

Heat Spots on Skin

1.- What is heat?

Heat is a type of energy that is manifested by an increase in temperature. Heat can cause bodies to expand and liquids to evaporate (dehydration).

In spring and summer, we can perceive an increase in temperature in the environment that affects the skin. Closed places with high temperatures can also affect the reflected skin with a change in appearance: more dehydrated, without luminosity, and more visible spots.

We know that this increase in heat is accompanied by more sweat and the formation of oily skin. When dead skin cells mix with oil and sweat, the appearance of blackheads also increases.

2.- How does heat affect stains?

Exposure to heat causes the appearance of spots and makes those existing on the skin more evident.

In the case of cloth, heat aggravates stains because heat stimulates melanocytes, as a natural mechanism for the skin to protect itself from external aggressors such as UV radiation, pollution, and heat.

Infrared radiation is that which generates heat-producing free radicals in the skin causing DNA damage. Consequently, there is damage in the formation of collagen, elastin, and melanocytes, oxidizing and altering essential compounds in the skin. As a result of these alterations, there is an appearance of spots on the skin.

3.- Does my daily sunscreen protect me from heat damage?

The answer is NO because the function of sunscreen is to protect the skin from UVB / UVA rays. Still, it does not cover visible light or infrared radiation, which is responsible for generating heat and therefore affects your skin with the appearance of stains.

Remember that your skin must always be protected with a sunscreen of at least SPF 30, as it will be a great ally to protect your skin and prevent more spots from being exposed to sunlight.

When heat is in direct contact with the skin, it produces an alteration in the melanocytes, which had been mentioned that are responsible for producing melanin and creates protection; then, when they are altered, they no longer fulfill their function. Which gives rise to the appearance of melasma; these spots appear on the part of the skin that was most exposed to heat, UV rays, radiation, etc., which will cause photo-aging, among other skin damage, including cancer of the skin.

Also, consider taking care of your skin from factors that can damage it, such as pollution, infrared radiation, blue light, free radicals,  among others. Currently, there are ingredients with advanced technology to protect your skin against these factors.

4.- What ingredients can I use to protect my skin from the heat?

First, you must consider eliminating the heat source. Still, if that is impossible, you could try to ventilate the room more or take breaks from the heat source or machinery that generates it since if you do not reduce them, it could continue to generate damage on your skin.

It is essential to consume and use products antioxidants in your product skincare. Antioxidants home that might work are Vitamin C, Vitamin A, bakuchiol, Green Tea, Resveratrol, and Vitamin E

It also helps you improve the appearance of your skin by reducing wrinkles.

A high-tech biotech ingredient that can work wonders to protect your skin from heat exposure is GP4G or Artemia salina extract. It is a cellular energizer that offers ATP cellular protection and DNA protection specially designed to protect your skin from the extreme changes in temperature to which the skin may be exposed. In addition, it helps reduce the pigmentation of spots on the skin.

The bakuchiol could also be helpful. It is a 100% natural ingredient derived from the seeds of the Asian babchi plant that works in much the same way as Vitamin A (retinol).

Main Benefits of Bakuchiol are:

  • Reduces hyperpigmentation of the skin, that is, improves the appearance of blemishes
  • Provides elasticity to the skin
  • Stimulates collagen formation
  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
  • Ideal for sensitive skin
  • Protects the skin from damage caused by exposure to high temperatures (heat)

Now you know why you may still get spots or even get worse even if you wear sunscreen. It is impossible to control the heat, but you can protect your skin and avoid these annoying skin spots using proper care and ingredients.
