Let’s Make-Up: the new beauty launches to have on your radar in September

September is a time for new beginnings with the start of the new school year and the symbolic reset that this brings. It’s also the time for an overhaul of our beauty regimes - switching up light formulas to thicker textures ready for the colder weather and summer hues to more autumnal shades.

In our Let’s Make-Up round-up, we bring you a selection of the tried and tested, freshest, and buzziest beauty launches that are worth adding to your basket. All types of lotions and potions across makeup, skincare, haircare and more cross our desks and we take it upon ourselves to review each and every one so that you don’t have to. If we include it below, then you know it’s a good ‘un.

For the beginning of the autumn, there’s much to be excited about. Bring a pop of colour into your makeup regime with the help of Beauty Bay who has teamed up with the Walt Disney Studios Ink & Paint Department and delved into their archives to create eye-popping palettes. Lottie London has also harked back in time with a YK revival with My Little Pony. If you’re not quite ready to take the bold shadow plunge, By Terry has you covered with its Bonjour Paris palette with nine shades that have universal appeal.

On the skincare front, Keys Soulcare is back with two new sure-to-be cult products, while Caudalie is stepping up its game once again with a blemish-busting range that will be a godsend to acne-prone skin. Paula’s Choice has a clinical-strength formula to tackle pigmentation and Skincare has created an innovative dispenser to make your serums more efficacious.

Elsewhere, there’s a new kid on the block - above & beyond - has a lip balm designed for lifetime use and Aurelia has an attractive new look and a new range. Christian Louboutin has also entered the refillable landscape with a lipstick - and naturally, it comes in that signature Louboutin red.

Ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Bobbi Brown has launched a limited-edition lip duo comprising the Crushed Oil-INfused Gloss in two hues of pink. You’ll find the Love Letter and New Romantic shades with the beloved non-sticky yet super shiny formula. The brand is donating the entirety of the RRP minus VAT to the Estee Lauder Breast Cancer Campaign for every set sold from September to June . There’s also a saving of £. versus buying the shades individually.

Refillable soap brand Kankan is always looking for ways to reduce their impact on the planet, from working with local suppliers and small runs to tackle oversupply, to finding homes for the items that are not quite perfect - and it’s the latter that has caught our eye this month. The label is offering its signature reusable bottles with very slight imperfections at a fraction of the cost, saving you money and the items from landing in the bin. Set one contains the bottle and one refill in the form of an aluminium can, while the second has got you covered for multiple rooms around your house.

One to pop on your desk for a hit of freshness throughout the day, Susanne Kaufmann’s latest launch - the Blue Light Defence & Moisturising Mist - protects against the harmful glare of our devices. The product works to shield our skin from blue light and infrared radiation that can affect collagen production and cause premature skin ageing. It is formulated with butterfly bush flower extract, ecotin, Q and silk protein to smooth and soothe skin, leaving it soft and supple.

Online beauty retailer Beauty Bay has teamed up with Disney for a -piece collection that takes inspiration from the iconic films that we all know and love. It is made up of mini eyeshadow palettes, shadow sticks, lip and cheek tints and more with the colours lifted from the legendary artists at the Walt Disney Studios Ink & Paint Department and movies such as Alice in Wonderland, The Jungle Book, Dumbo and Pinocchio.

Dreaming of a getaway to the sun? No need to jump on a plane - Crabtree & Evelyn will take you there with its latest collection. Bring colour back into your life and makeup routine with a nostalgic collaboration that harks back to YK. It contains a mix of warm-toned shades, matte and a whole lot of shimmer with two covetable shade selections. Only Dany on Days ending with ‘Y’ £. has a combination of blue, pink, green and red hues, while Friendship is my Jam Palette £. sets purples, gold and orange shades alongside each other.

Luxury skincare label Omorovicza has two new products added to its range of age-defying heroes. Each combines thousands of years of Hungarian beauty secrets with science-led innovation to bring you your best skin yet. The Queen Cream £ is packed with nutrient-rich oils and a specialised urban shielding microalgae that protects against environmental aggressors while dishing out some serious moisture. It’s both a moisturiser and a primer with blurring effects. The Queen Cleanser £ does what is says on the tin but does so with a blend of precious oils and purifying moringa seed peptide to remove dirt and impurities while retaining skin’s natural oils.

Put your science cap on because your skincare is about to get seriously hi-tech once you introduce the Microniser into your regime. Founder Ada Ooi has created this device to transform your serums into micrometre particles in order for them to be more easily absorbed into the skin and enhance their efficacy. It’s also portable and rechargeable via USB.

As part of the brand’s game-changing Clinical range, the Discoloration Repair Serum is here with a potent, clinical-strength formula that will be a godsend to those struggling with pigmentation and patches caused by hormonal changes, ageing or external aggressors. The serum combines tranexamic acid to fade discolouration, niacinamide to even out texture and tone and bakuchiol, a natural form of retinol.

Caudalie has been hitting it out of the park with its recent launches and Vinopure is no exception. This range is targeted specifically for those with acne-prone skin as a gentle alternative to the harsh stripping products out there. The entirety of the collection has been formulated using natural origin ingredients with powerhouse blemish fighting favourites like salicylic acid, niacinamide, antioxidant polyphenols and antibacterial essential oils. The hero product is the Blemish Control Salicylic Serum but use in conjunction with the cleanser, toner and Moisturising Mattifying Fluid to improve skin’s quality. They are all housed in eco-conscious packaging.

If it feels like a new beauty brand is launching every minute, well, that’s because it is. But when sorting the wheat from the chaff, it’s always important to look for sustainability credentials and above & beyond has that in spades. The label specialises in lip balms that are designed for lifetime use, refillable, natural, and plastic-free. Even the refills are compostable and don’t contain microplastics. The balms come in Comforting Coconut, Sweet Vanilla, Tropical Mango and Mixed Berry.

Micellar water is a staple for an easy makeup removal routine and Chanel is on hand to bring an extra element of luxury to this basic. This new water-to-foam cleanser is free from soap, sulphates and nasties. While a pump of the product reveals a water texture, it almost immediately transforms into a creamy foam that offers a hydrating hit and remove dirt and makeup from the skin without even needing to scrub. This is achieved through a combination of plant-derived cleansing agents and amino acid derivatives that removes pollution, UV filters and dead skin cells. It is ideal for curly, thick and damaged hair.

Beloved for its essential oil-based products, including the diffusers, candles and aromatherapy oils, Neom is back once again to pamper and encourage sweet dreams. It has a super soft texture and is formulated with actives like cica, ceramides and hyaluronic acid that work to protect and soothe skin. Like all the range, the cream contains calming essential oils like lavender, chamomile and patchouli that transform tired skin.
